☝️ If you are creating an account for a child, you may be required (due to their age) to create an adult account first. Please follow the steps below to create an adolescent account.

Creating a child account

❗Note: If you need to create an account for your child, please DO NOT connect the Nerivio device yet. This will permanently link that device to your adult account.

If your child is under 13 years old, you will need to create an adolescent account for them. This will be done by creating your account and adding your child's email as your child's. Then, the adolescent account can be created on their phone under the email you approved.

Please see the detailed instructions below:

  1. Open an account under the parent’s name

  2. IMPORTANT! SKIP THE DEVICE SET-UP PROCESS (DO NOT PAIR THE NERIVIO DEVICE TO THE ADULT ACCOUNT)

  3. Scroll down to More and tap it

  4. Tap Nerivio Connection Tutorial

  5. At the bottom of the screen, tap Add a child account

.

6. Fill in the account details

7. Tap Create

8. You will need to accept and agree to the End-User License Agreement to receive an email at the submitted adolescent’s email address.

9. Open this email from the adolescent's smartphone and follow the instructions to log in with your adolescent’s credentials.

10. Pair the Nerivio device to the adolescent's account

Note: After you approve your adolescent’s email on your account, the Nerivio device must be connected only to the child's account.

What's the difference between a connected device and a turned-on device?

A device is considered “turned on” when the green light flashes. This does not mean it is connected to the app.

To connect your device:

  1. Make sure Bluetooth is turned “on” on your phone. Do not try to pair the device from the Bluetooth menu.

  2. Place the device directly next to the phone on a table. (If the device is on your arm, please remove it when connecting.)

Connect Nerivio

Note: The screens shown in this section are from the iOS version of the Nerivio app. The connection process is the same on Android, however the screens may appear slightly different.

When opening the app for the first time, or when the device is not detected, the app displays the Set up Nerivio screen. This screen includes two preparation steps: Connect Nerivio and Wear Nerivio.

Step 1: Connect your device

The Set up Nerivio screen displays the two steps required before your first treatment: Connect Nerivio and Wear Nerivio. Tap Connect Nerivio to expand the connection instructions on the start screen. Make sure Bluetooth is turned on in your phone settings and that your phone is close to the device.

.

Step 2: If the device is not found

If the app displays Nerivio not found, confirm the following:

  • The device is turned on

  • Bluetooth is enabled on your phone

  • Your phone is close to the device

  • Tap Try again to retry.

Step 3: Scan the NFC sticker

Place the Refill unit on a flat surface with the round NFC sticker facing up. Tap I'm ready, then hold the back of your phone against the round gray NFC sticker on the Refill unit until the app confirms the scan. You may need to move your smartphone slightly over the refill unit to enhabceenhance the NFC connectivity.

Step 4: If you are having trouble connecting

If the NFC scan fails, the app will offer an alternative. Tap Connect with QR code and use your phone camera to scan the QR code on the Refill unit sticker. If your Refill unit does not have a QR code, tap My refill unit doesn't have a QR code and follow the instructions.

.

Step 5: The device is connected and ready to wear

Once the connection is complete, a confirmation message is displayed and the Wear Nerivio guide opens. Follow the instructions to place device on your arm

Where can I see how many treatments are left on my Nerivio

Once Nerivio is connected to the app, you will see the number of treatments remaining on your device at the top of the home screen.

💡TIP: Number of treatments running low? Use the refill button, which should appear at the top of the screen after 6 treatments.

> Include your name in diary export

> Enable push notifications

> Enable app messages

> Enable Preventive Treatment Reminders – select this to enable or disable reminders for preventive treatment and to set a preferred reminder time. > Enable Preventive Treatment Consistency feature

> Enable Your Day Ahead feature

The Log Tab on the App

This screen enables you to track and edit your treatment sessions and migraine headaches. Clicking Log in the app will open a calendar where all your treatment sessions and reported migraine attacks are stored. Treatment sessions are marked as green dots on the treatment days, and daily diary records are marked as a white circle on the reported days.

Clicking the "Fill Daily Diary" button will allow you to add a report of your migraine headache and other symptoms, regardless of whether you performed a treatment or not. This can be filled in daily, but not more than once a day.

In the calendar view, clicking a specific day opens the details of the daily health tracking and treatments for that day. You may edit the entry by pressing the edit button on the record. The information can be summarized in a table and exported and shared with your healthcare provider or any other caregiver. This is done by clicking the Share icon, which lets you download the file and save it locally, or send it via email or any messaging app installed on your phone.

The Track on the App

Your migraine records are summarized in the Track screen. Track presents you with the number of migraines you have had, your headache pain levels, and the presence of other symptoms. It provides information on how well you adhere to Nerivio's recommended instructions, such as treating early.

Track gives you Your Day Ahead, a daily outlook on how likely you are to experience a migraine attack in the next 24 hours. This is based on your recent app activity, such as your log entries, treatment sessions, and questionnaire answers, together with de-identified data from the wider Nerivio community, and is not a clinical diagnosis.

💡 The likelihood is shown as Low, Moderate, or High and updates daily, as well as shortly after you add a new log entry or complete a treatment. This information only exists if you fill in a pre-treatment questionnaire or log a symptom entry with a pain level other than "none"; otherwise, Track will show "No Recent Data."

Track shows your Preventive Treatment Consistency, letting you see how well you're keeping up with your every-other-day preventive treatment plan, displayed as Not Started, Getting There, or On Course. It also displays your Personal Milestone, based on consecutive "On Course" weeks, and your Community Standing, which shows your ranking relative to other Nerivio users based on your preventive treatment consistency over time. This information only exists if you've indicated that Nerivio was prescribed for migraine prevention or for dual use, and it can be turned off in Settings at any time.

Track presents your Migraine Patterns, showing your headache days and Nerivio treatments over time across different timeframes (Week, Month, 3 Months, 6 Months, Year). Based on your pre- and post-treatment questionnaires, it presents your Treatment Outcome: Headache, summarizing changes in your reported headache intensity, and your Treatment Outcome: Other Symptoms, summarizing changes in your reported migraine-related symptoms. These outcomes are displayed as percentages (e.g., Helpful, Somewhat helpful, Not helpful). Migraine Patterns also presents your Acute Treatment Timing, showing the percentage of Nerivio treatments you started within 60 minutes of migraine onset during the selected period.

.

💡 The information on Track can be exported to a PDF and shared with your healthcare provider, a family member, or a friend. This is done by clicking the Share icon, which lets you download the file and save it locally, or send it via email or any messaging app installed on your phone.

What is the GIER?

The Nerivio app feature called GIER, Guided Imagery, Education, and Relaxation is a rich video library.

The library contains:

- Educational content to help you understand your migraine.

-Guided practices designed to reduce pain, stress, and tension.

The videos were created and led by top headache psychologists.

GIER is your migraine management companion and can be accessed during each Nerivio treatment.

While it is optional to watch the GIER video, previous research found that those who combined Nerivio treatment with GIER had consistently higher pain relief, functional improvement, and return to normal functioning beyond those using the Nerivio wearable alone (Buse et al., Pain Medicine, 2022).

How to access the GIER UP videos?

The GIER UP content library is available during every Nerivio treatment.

  1. Start the treatment

  2. Follow the pretreatment steps and instructions on the treatment screen

  3. The ‘GIER’ toast will appear at the top of the treatment screen
