Using Nerivio if your migraine started more than 60 minutes (an hour) before usage
You can use your Nerivio to treat a migraine even if it started over an hour ago. However, we recommend that for future migraine attacks, you treat as early as possible.
💡 TIP: For patients with chronic, daily migraine: if you are unable to start treating early, begin treatment when you notice an increase in symptoms.
Setting your personal intensity level
The Nerivio treatment is personalized to you as you can control the intensity level of each treatment. When starting treatment, set the intensity level by tapping the “+” button on the Treatment screen of the app, increasing it to a level that feels strong yet comfortable and not painful. If the sensation is uncomfortable or painful, tap the “-” button and decrease the intensity by 1-2% or until strong but comfortable.
💡TIP: If you experience hand numbness and/or muscle twitching, try decreasing the intensity slightly, as it may be too high, or pause the treatment and change the location of the electrodes on the arm and then resume treatment.
What is the right intensity for treatments?
Your treatment intensity level is personal to you. It should feel strong yet comfortable and not painful. If you don’t feel the treatment, try increasing the intensity. If the treatment leads to hand numbness or muscle twitching, try decreasing the intensity.
The majority of patients found intensity levels above 20% to be more effective. But remember, intensity is personal. It is good practice to keep it at a level that is strong but non-painful for you. Therefore, if intensity under 20% works for you, stick with it.
