3 Pillars for effective acute treatment

1. Start treatment early

For effective results, you should start the treatment as soon as you feel the first
symptoms of the migraine attack and within 60 minutes of the migraine symptoms onset (headache and/or aura).

2. Setting Intensity at the start of each treatment

Setting Intensity

Since each migraine attack is different, there is no one right setting. The intensity should be strong, but never painful, and should be set within the first few minutes of treatment.

  • The device transmits pulses that feel like tingling.

  • The (+) and (–) buttons on your phone screen allow you to set the treatment intensity level. After you start treatment, you can repeatedly press the (+) button to increase the intensity until it feels strong yet comfortable and not painful.

  • We recommend setting the intensity during the first few minutes of treatment and not altering it during the treatment. The intensity may feel weaker during the 45 minutes of treatment, this is normal because your body is adjusting to the sensation; there is no need to increase it any further.

  • During clinical trials, the most effective treatment was obtained with intensities over 20% and with averages between 25 and 35%. If you do not get to 20%, however, do not worry, as long as it feels strong.

3. Treatment Time

For effective results, complete the full 45-minute treatment.

3 Pillars for effective preventive treatment

1. Treat Regularly

  • Use the Nerivio app to set reminders to complete your Nerivio treatments.

2. Set an Intensity that is strong but comfortable

  • Use the + to increase the intensity until it feels strong yet comfortable and not painful. Setting the intensity below this point could decrease the efficacy of the treatment. In clinical trials, levels below 20% were found to be less effective by the majority of patients.

3. Complete a full treatment

  • For effective results, complete the full 45-minute treatment.
